Welcome!

That's a lovely pair. If you look into the breeder's forum you should be able to get some good tips there; also, the stickies on care elsewhere. You will find that these are 'big parrots' in dinky bodies...very intelligence and dynamic little birds! Good luck with your new pair!

Hi. And welcome!

Pictures tell us a lot about your birdies. It looks like you have 2 females.( maybe). Do you know their ages?
Also, I see that you haven't put in any toys for your birdies. Looks like there are limited foods, too. You just got them, so I understand that you have not got everything together, yet.Put in some paper to shred. Give them a sunflower seed as a treat. Hide the seed in their toys.

These parrotlets are just like big parrots. They are true parrots. They are dwarf parrots, but need to be treated like larger parrots.

Millet is good, but you need to make sure you offer them a variety of seeds or pellets. Clean water every day--this means you must clean out the water dish every day! Clean it well, because bacteria will build up in the corners if the water dish. Parakeet seed is a no no! Small hook bill seed is good. Some Cockatiel seed mixes are okay, but give them a variety. Offer them fresh veggies every day. Broccoli florets are very good for them. Put the florets on a dish or stick the florets in between the bars of the cage.

Fry up an egg and chop it up into small pieces and watch them go to town! Carrots, peppers, corn kernels, pepperoni (Cooked), kale, almonds, baked or broiled chicken breasts(no skin) are good--slice the chicken into very thin and small strips. It is good for them. Buy hemp seeds and safflower seeds and sunflower seeds. Do not give them a lot of safflower and sunflower seeds.

Look at the left of you monitor right now. Read the other forums. Read them all! The p'lett is a complicated bird and needs your care! So, keep us informed. Ask all the questions you can think of. We will help you!

I was wondering about the genders as well. The pictures don't really give a good view of the markers of a male. A male parrotlet should have blue behind the eye, on the rump, and on the edge of the wing. As they are both green, it should be easier to figure out. A female parrotlet might (but probably won't) have blue behind the eye and a bit on the rump but won't have any on the edge of the wing.
What are their names?
As David says, parrotlets are BIG parrots in needs and in their minds - only their bodies are small. Definitely treat them at the very least like the lovebirds, and maybe even bigger. They are amazing creatures, but definitely take some work.
