YAY Tobie!!

Levi has all his flight feathers back now (well, a couple are still growing but basically they are all here) and he has really been enjoying doing laps. He's DEFINITELY more feisty now than before he was clipped though.

Okay, so given the renewed "random parrotlet thread" I have something to share.

For the past two and a half months, or so, I've been watching an incredible evolution in Sky's flight displays and her play flying. It's really astonishing, and when friends are around she leaves them either in shock and awe, or laughter in sheer joy watching her. So, for example, she now has something like a corkscrew barrel roll that she does at times as she goes to visit people. She also has what I call a "zig zag flight," with extremely precise sharp angular turns, sort of like a lightening bolt shape, that she will also do going to visit people, or just when happy, like dancing in the air. She flies straight at objects, and people now, and does a hoover turn, zooming away at high speed. Also, she loves diving now with sharp pull ups, sort of like some sort of little raptor on the hunt, and at times she likes to fly off of me, circle the room, and as she circles come closer and closer, until she's flying right around me like I'm some sort of "maypole," then lighting upon my shoulder chirping away. There are other lovely moves in flight she's taken too, but basically speaking she has radically expanded creative play in flight when she's out and about, and it seems right now every few days, or each week, she's busting out with a new move. Don't know what's inspiring her, but it sure is very cute and fun to watch.

I've been wondering if someone secretly read "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" to her, because she sure is pushing the limits of her flying power lately, and it's truly quite amazing. Talk about entertainment in the evening...and yes, it's virtually every evening now with few exceptions!

Aren't they amazing? They fly so well. I don't remember my budgies as a kid ever being that skilled, I'm sure some are though. Melody is also a master and Jasper does the crazy Zig zag all over. He flys right at your face and then pulls up so fast his tail hits you in the face LOL
I feel way more comfortable knowing my birds can fly, I know they can get away from potentially bad situations (like eachother) they don't have to be stranded on the floor ever. I like walking around with Melody she will hang off my clothes and if she ever looses footing she just swoops to safety. And it's just fun to watch.

Hueys flight feathers are growing in and he is starting to be able to fly again... he is getting brave...no lift up yes but his gliding is further, and no more plops to the ground.

I'm getting a new baby male pacific green parrotlet. I've named him Sheldon Cooper (after the character in Big Bang Theory). I can't wait for him to arrive!

It's like being a little kid again waiting for Christmas and Santa, isn't it? Congratulations on finding one of these little sweet tyrants for yourself!

Enjoy!

Reading your beautiful post about Sky's flight maneuvers, made me decide that Sheldon will be flighted! He will be my first flighted Parrotlet ever.
