A Beautiful Feather

As many of you know, Levi is growing out his clipped feathers during this moult and growing his beautiful wings! Yesterday, he lost his first full flight feather... I have been checking his cage every day to see if he will lose one and then last night, I found it on the floor under the coffee table! I wanted to share how pretty it is!

I am keeping all the good, clean feathers he loses so I can make some artwork with them eventually

How sweet, I love finding feathers! I found a giant tail feather of Jasper's in my purse last week LOL

Hi.
Bogie is 8 years old and I have collected every feather he has lost, excluding his down feathers. My wife is an artist and I showed her all the feathers I had. She formed the outline of a parrotlet and filled in the outline with the remaining feathers! It looked so real! She wanted a few more, so we did not glue the feathers in place, yet.

Now, we are thinking of making a wire mesh outline of Bogie and attaching the feathers to the mesh. Another year of feathers ought to do it. Right now, I have a bag full of feathers.

David I am thinking of doing something similar!! Probably more on the abstract side of things though because I am not an artist

I hope you can share your wife's artwork when Bogie's portrait is complete!!

I kept Daisy's first 4 or 5 feathers and added them to a mini dreamcatcher that I made and which hangs on the wall by her cage.

We are not doing anything as artistic with Jules feathers. My wife is taking a course in Ornithology at our local university. This session many of Jules's feathers are going to class so the students can study them and the difference between feather types.

Also planned is for Jules to go to class one day for show and tell so everybody can meet a 5 inch tall tyrant.

I thought I had all of Bogie's feathers until my wife reminded me that Bogie sent some of his feathers to my mother. Since I lost my mother last Thanksgiving, I have all the letters and cards I sent her over the years.

Bogie sent 3 cards addressed to my mother. He drew a stick bird on one card and glued feathers to the stick bird! He designed another card for her and glued three feathers where the signature goes. On the back of that custom made card, he glued 3 more feathers on back of the card and wrote, " Designed by the Three Feathers Avian Group! " owner, Humphrey Bogart ( Bogie ) Miller.
Just for the record---we drew and made the cards, not Bogie--or did he? Hmmmmmmm........
