New foraging toy

I made a new foraging toy for Beaker today after seeing some ideas online. I used the little ketchup cups they have an wendy's, some wooden pieces mean for small animals, a bell, pony beads and a piece of hemp twine. Beaker even helped make it by throwing all the supplies on the floor and trying to hang off it while I was busy tying knots!

and a video if it works!

This is GREAT!!! I am going to have to copy your version and see if Daisy will take to foraging. She's really fond of decimating strawberries but hasn't shown much inclination to forage. Maybe this will get her attention.

Thumbs up

What a great idea! I have a greenie like you do. His name is Bogie. Bogie has a million toys and He doesn't have one like that....I checked all 3 closets of toys to make sure! I will make him one soon. Thanks, Beaker!

Thanks guys! I'm going to have to make it harder though, he had the whole thing emptied of oats in about an hour. He went bonkers over it! When he couldn't get the last oats he kept bashing the bell on the bottom like he was frustrated.

What a great idea, my guy does not appear to be interested in foraging, but this I might have to give a try. It is easy enough to make, I have everything except the cups.

It was super easy to make. I think because the cups are clear and the birds can see whats inside of them it makes them more curious as to how to get the stuff out.

OBVIOUSLY the bell at the bottom is how you call for a refill! What type of parrotlet slave are you to not refill immediately?!?! :P

Wow that is great!! I love it! Wonderful idea with the clear cups, where did you get the blocks?
I need like a foraging toy tutorial now complete with materials list.

(Jasper got very exited when he saw Beaker. He likes any other bird but Melody.)

I know that Drs. Foster & Smith (or is that Smith & Foster?!) sell the blocks but I think you could buy them at a pet store too. Hopefully you'd find them in the bird section of course, but if not, check the gerbils/hamster section since they have blocks that are designed to be safe for nibbling and could be used on a toy like this I think. Unless someone knows of any reason a hamster-chewblock would be bad for birds?
