Thanx for info on kEthoxyq. I have always heard / read that ascorbic acid(Vit C) is an excellent Natural preserve. Im tossing the Etox stuff to the birds . (no pun intended ))) The outside wild birds that is!

do roudybush pellets have this? I just checked the bag, but didn't see it listed, however, there sure are a lot of un-pronouncable things on that list.......also salt which I was previously unaware of.......makes me want to re think the whole pellet thing, but the breeder thinks pellets are the best thing since sliced bread...

What seed does everyone use? I had been using the nutriphase cockatiel blend and Petsmart stopped carrying it. I am wary of Kaytee because of the Ethoxyquin content.

I offer fresh foods as well but I like to make a seed/pellet/dried fruit veggie blend as well to offer daily and I am nearly out of food. The 8 in 1 Eco-tritian was super expensive and didn't seem all that great

It seems the Volkmans is chock-ful of safflower seeds which I usually offer as a treat and not so much in with the food.

Any advice?

The breeder that I got Toby from recomended Kaytee fiesta max for his seeds, but it has the bad stuff in it... I have been unable to find a substitute, and Toby refuses to eat anything fresh other than birdy bread sprinkled over his seed. Any suggestions on abrand that would be safe to use?

Seeing this article sent me running to our pet food bags. I have yet to see it, luckily. We currently use Wild Harvest Advanced Cockatiel mix- has alot of dried stuff, so I'm looking into sprouting right now. Talk about a scare! Great article, very informative. I'll be adding the big E to our "NO!" column on my excel sheet for Banjo on the fridge!

anita1216 will become famous soon enough

This was a concern in the fancy rat community many years ago. It's the biggest reason Kaytee brand anything is snubbed. It was a goo refresher to read about it again.

I've been trying to get Timmy off the Kaytee pellets and on to Roudybush and he's being stubborn.
