Question How to ward off ants in the coming months?

Hi everyone! Does anybody have a recipe/cure to ward off those tiny pesky ants that start to show up in the warmer months? I want to get a head start before the little critters start to show in my bird-room. As it gets warmer I have the door open and the screen door in place. Obviously I am looking for a safe cure that will have no ill effects on the birds. Thanks for any input

I have heard this works , but have not tried it as yet, good luck..
Vinegar

Wipe down your countertops, cupboards and any other places where you've spotted ants with a 50-50 mixture of white vinegar and water. Repeat throughout the day to maintain the efficacy. Why This Works: Two reasons, really: ants hate the smell of vinegar, and it removes the scent trails that they use to get around

At Lowes I get sugar traps. I use double stick tape to keep them in place so it doesn't spill as it is a liquid gel. It's called Terro liquid ant bait.

I know when I lived up north I'd get ants in the kitchen. I peeled a cumber and laid the cumber peel on the counter top and floor and the ants took off and never came back.

Corn meal is suppose to make them explode after they eat it. Sprinkle it around where you see them coming in. They take it back as food and it kills the nest

It's called insecticide. Spray it on the outside of your house.

insecticide outside can be tracked inside the house. I used it ONE time and we had a budgie with nerve damage from playing on carpet that had been walked on afterwards. We had to shampoo the carpet and the poor bird had to spend a week at the vet getting steroid injections. He survived but was severely traumatized by it.

I use vinegar! It works. I had ants coming in through the window by the cat food and a little bit of vinegar and gone! No more.
