Naps

I notice Odin napping a bit more often during the first half of the day. Well, actually he rarely napped before, maybe only after a lot of active time or after soaking him wet. We recently started placing him in the other room for the night so maybe he's not yet accommodated and sleeps poorly. How often do your birds nap? And for how long? What else should I be looking for to identify if this normal? I'm guessing lack of sleep would bring about other problems.

I cover my birds for 10-12 (closer to 12 most days) hours at the same time each day. They have quiet places and dark although occasionally they will hear us talking or we put s low light on.
Melody adamantly clangs on the door every morning to wake up, takes a shower with Daddy, and then promptly goes back to sleep on her boing.
I think the birds nap often. Especially during the late morning hours because whenever I come home at lunch or get home from church everyone is quite and starts stretching their wings when I get up the stairs.

Jules is Big on napping and naps several times a day. If we are active she will forgo her little naps but at around 3pm insist on being taken to her favorite perch or fingers will pay.

Levi takes a lot of short naps, especially if we're just watching TV and not doing anything interesting. Usually he'll only nap in his cage. He's not big on napping on his playstand or on us now that he can fly.

Sky enjoys a lot of little naps throughout the day, along with her 12 hours of sleep a night, such is the life of birds, and dogs, and cats...

One could get jealous of all their leisure time!

I've been known to take a nap "because the bird is napping"

LOL! We tried "group" naptime about a week ago when I was dog-sitting my mom's dog, and I tried napping on the couch beside Tumi's main cage. Apparently my napping there was an invitation to bell-bash violently for SEVERAL HOURS STRAIGHT. I know Tumi naps when I am not home, but apparently he does not believe in group napping sadly.

These little monsters have no respect for our naps! I haven't even tried lately because I just KNOW someone's going to start yelling. I wish he were a napper, but no such luck.

I feel like he must nap when I'm out of the house, but I've actually never caught him doing so. Lately he's been lightly dozing about an hour or so before bedtime but he never truly sleeps during these.

Oh yeah, if we need a nap forget it. We deserve to be punished.

Cool stories, everyone. Fingers crossed that Odin is turning into a napper, then! )
