Seed Guard for New Cage

I found a new cage that ticks off all the boxes for me, especially, the size of the bar spacing and it has a landing platform, but it doesn't have a seed guard. All of my previous cages have had these square metal seed guards, so I don't know if I'd miss it. Also, I can't find the same cage with one already attached. Drs. Foster & Smith sell them separately, but it's black and won't match.

So I'm just wondering if you like seed guards or don't? Would you buy a cage without one?

Hello!
I am having a hard time understanding the first part of your first sentence.

As far as seed guards, can't you get feeding boxes with the plastic seed guard attached? The bird can't spill seeds out of it. I never cared for seed guards. It only takes a minute to clean up the floor of Bogie's cage, every few days. Besides, he eats with me and my wife now and occasionally eats from his cage area.

I hope this helps.

Hi! The seed guard I'm talking about goes around the outside of the cage. Thanks for your reply though!!

I have 3 cages, the vision cage has an acryllic bottom/built in sead guard and I love it. The other 2 cages are regular cages and do not have seed guard. I dont find that my guy tosses his seed and pellets around outside of the cage, he really is not a messy bird at all.

Congrats!

You can also get a sheet of clear acrylic from your local hardware store (have them cut it to whatever size you prefer), drill some holes in it, & bolt it to the side of the cage where the food bowls are (make sure to use stainless steel hardware only).
