Methods like "gentle beak" often take some time, and it takes time for a new bird to understand what we mean...it's a process, and patience persistence is the key. Best of luck to you!

Hi, this is my first time here. My boy is a year-old Pacific Green with no training so far. I say "touch" and he comes and gently touches my finger and then goes to get a treat wherever I am going to give it to him. He started being gentle by himself. I was using a chopstick to train him to come but he does the same with my finger. BUT, I cannot get him to climb on my finger. Patience I guess.

Welcome David! Try searching "step up".. there are lots of posts that give you a good technique to teach your bird to step up. And please feel free to start a new thread to tell us about you and your parrotlet! We love pictures too

I started with Bernie on Sunday evening (it was his second day home) and I think he was raised well by the breeder because he's not super frightened by my hand.
Once I start giving him head scratches, I start saying "gentle" while trying to touch his beak and head at the same time. My finger is so big on his little beak I'm practically pushing him back and forth when I touch him lol

When I got my parrotlet I went from having an Umbrella Cockatoo to this little dinky bird...too some time getting used to petting on such a tiny thing!
